Images from the Field Museum Photo Archives
Photographs from the Field Museum Library Photo Archives Collection.
The Library Photo Archives collection dates back to the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. These images from the Field's history document activities related to fieldwork and scientific collecting. Photography at the Field has changed drastically throughout its history; from glass plate negatives, through acetate film, nitrate film, color prints, and today’s digital images. As the technology related to photography has changed, so have many of the conditions and practices related scientific collecting. These images represent a snapshot of history and must be viewed within their own historical context.
